So, I woke up before my alarm went off and I was out the door before I had planned on being, yet I still made it to my first class only a few minutes before the lecture started. It took me almost 40 whole minutes to get to class. Lame, huh? Well, here's the low-down on my classes for those of you who are interested:
8 o'clock: Physical Science. Immediately everyone broke out their laptop and so I did the same, prepared to take notes, but a little self-conscious because my screen was so bright. (I didn't realize until halfway through the lecture how to dim the screen.) Right before the class started, this really, really cute guy walked in. (He looks like Jared Burgess, aka the Guy with the Eyes, only he's got dark hair and eyes.) A guy I recognized. He was from my ward! I was happy to have a familiar face in class, but he didn't sit near me, so I had no chance to talk to him. Not that I would have been brave enough to do it anyway. Anyway, the teacher launched into his lecture, going over the syllabus. This teacher seems pretty cool. He's a little old, but he's entertaining. When we got to the iclicker part, though, for some reason, my iclicker wasn't working. I started to panic. He takes attendance using the iclicker and he would think I was a stupid slacker who didn't show up for the first class, all because my stupid iclicker wasn't working! The blue light was on and everything, but as soon as you pressed a letter, BAM! it shut down. By the end of class, I was a little disheartened by it, but otherwise sure the class would be a good one, and not too hard either.
9 o'clock: American Heritage. Our Y groups were composed of people from our American Heritage class, so I quickly spotted a friend and sat down next to her. It was nice to have company and someone to laugh at the teacher with. (Not in a disrespectful way, mind you.) He played a weird video with a really long clip from The Lord of the Rings and then talked about his family most of the rest of the time. Then, he busted out an iclicker slide, too! I was upset at this point, and frustrated with my stupid little iclicker. I threw it in my bag contemptuously while everyone else entered in their answers. I was in the back and as soon as the lecture ended, I rushed out the door, because although my classes are relatively close to each other, it had taken me almost the whole ten minutes to get from the CB to the SWKT.
10 o'clock: Book of Mormon. Luckily I got from the SWKT to the JKB fairly quickly, but it was still nearly full when I got there, so I sat in the back again. We talked a little about ourselves to our neighbors and went over the syllabus and then my teacher launched into stories about BYU's founding... the ones we had all already heard at orientation. It was kind of boring. And you could tell that my teacher was NOT an English major. I met a couple of boys from Wyview, but they didn't seem to take any interest in me.
11 o'clock: Lunch. I went to the Bookstore, where I bought a cheap copy of the Book of Mormon and the CES BoM Study Guide and thereupon discovered that you cannot use your dining dollars there. Stupid. I paid cash. Then I ate alone outside of the Wilk, because inside the Wilk, there were many, many tables of lone people. Which would have been fine, I maybe would have asked to sit with one of them, but they were all studying or had their laptops out. Uhm, excuse me, but you don't come to the Cougareat to study! And if you are sitting alone in hopes that someone will sit next to you, be a little more approachable, okay? Okay.
12 o'clock: Biology. This was one of the classes I was a little more worried about considering I had never received news as to what textbook I needed for it. It turns out I just have a really lax teacher who doesn't teach from a textbook. He says he doesn't believe in people buying 100 dollar textbooks for a class they aren't majoring in. Woo! Me neither! And then he said we don't need iclickers either, because he'd rather spend a few dollars on paper for our daily quizzes than have us all spend 30 bucks on a stupid gadget for it. He went on to say that basically that's all the class is: quizzes. He lectures, we take quizzes, two midterms, and a final. No reading. No homework. That's it. The only thing I don't really like about his class is that first of all he has an annoying MinnesOta accent and that it seems like he's gonna do all in his power to make it look like he is a good teacher, even though he probably won't be. He's giving opportunities for extra credit and he said that if everyone's grades are too low, he'll just bump them up. Oh, and is dead set on converting us to two things: a biology major and taking evolution as gospel doctrine. He says he's going to teach natural selection and evolution hardcore and it will come as a shock to us that Mommy wasn't always right about everything, and he's hoping to make us all question everything in life. So that'll be interesting.
By the time I went to walk home, it was like 1:30 and it was really hot. When I got home, I realized that one of my heels had been bleeding all over my shoe, so now my shoe and my sock are bloodstained. It didn't even hurt that bad, I don't know why I bled so much. I took a picture but I probably won't post it until later. Also, I'll try to get a picture of Marley and Sarah (the real ones) so you can see what they look like, too.
At home, I went to the iclicker website and looked at the Help page to see if it would help me. It was there that I read that the iclicker takes 3 AAA batteries. I had only replaced two of them, unaware of the third. Oops!
Tomorrow I only have 1 class, and it doesn't start until 1:35. Not too shabby.
PS Church yesterday was good. We basically just met our leaders in sacrament and then went to Sunday School and had all 160 of us introduce ourselves and then go out to get our picture taken for the ward directory. We have 100 and some odd girls, and about 50 boys, so we'll have two separate Relief Societies and one Elder's Quorum. After church we had interviews with the bishopric (or were supposed to... they got really far behind and have to finish the second half next week) and while we were waiting Marley and I (Sarah wasn't in the best mood and didn't go to that or to the building meeting that morning or FHE tonight.) met this boy who told us he was on a date! Haha. A date on Sunday, and his date had to have an interview in middle of it. I found that interesting. FHE was good tonight. That cute guy, the guy with the eyes imitator, is in my Home Evening group. His name is Michael. He showed absolutely no sign of wanting to get to know me. Yet pretty much every boy showed every sign of wanting to get to know Marley, of course. Oh well, who can blame them for being interested? Marley is a good girl, sweet and considerate, pretty, and, unlike me, actually knows how to flirt.

So did you replace your iclicker?
Oh, I guess I forgot one of the best parts of the story. I went to the iclicker website and looked at the Help page to see if it would help me. It was there that I read that the iclicker takes 3 AAA batteries. I had only replaced two of them, unaware of the third. Oops!
