The Butt End of a Prank

My poor car was attacked twice in the past two days. It all started with a slice of pizza, as far as I can tell...

I know it's kind of hard to read, but the sidewalk says "Don't pizza. PS <3 U =) Us II Kat 0"
Plus, some boys at church today were saying that she shouldn't have thrown that piece of pizza...

So, yesterday morning, I was cleaning the kitchen and while I was at the table I happened to look up and notice my car. It was covered in what looked like bright orange silly string. Slightly disconcerted (I mean, come one, who even KNOWS me here?) I finished cleaning all of the apartment and got dressed before going outside to investigate. I discovered that the string led from my car up the stairs to the apartment above me.

I therefore concluded that since their stairway had been blocked, and not mine, that they had been the intended recipients of the joke, and whoever the culprits were must have thought the car belonged to one of those girls. Upon removing the string from the car, though, I discovered that the string wasn't actually connected. There were several pieces of string wound tightly and intricately around my car, but none of it actually went up the stairs. That confused me a bit.

Anyway, I continued about my day (it being pretty uneventful; I just read my Physical Science book in preparation for the exemption exam all day) and didn't think anything more of it. I texted Stephen to confirm the time of our date and he asked if I'd like to come over earlier for dinner. So I drove down (not wanting to walk all the way back home in the dark), parked across from J-Dawgs, and met up with Stephen. We had stir-fry (which I gather Stephen is particularly fond of) with his roommate James and his date, Kristen. It was a little difficult to carry a conversation because mostly the two others were talking to each other, but quite loudly. And when the other girl asked how Stephen and I met, I felt oddly like we were already a married couple or something. But after we actually finished eating, Stephen whipped out his laptop and we looked up YouTube videos together, which was more conducive to our own personal conversations. After that we played a card gamed called "It Came to Pass" until the others (two more couples- Stephen and Sarah [a different Sarah, not my roommate], Grant and Lisa) showed up. Then we watched Mulan (during which many people made many random comments, and James showed off his expansive knowledge about Chinese culture). There wasn't much room in the tiny living room- a three seater sofa and a loveseat. One couple was on the loveseat, one couple on the ground, and one couple and me on the sofa, with Stephen on the floor. It was like he was afraid to sit next to me or something. I assured him that if he wanted to sit next to me on the couch, there was enough room. He did, but I'm not sure he was entirely comfortable...
After the movie Grant took his date home and James took his date home. So, the Stephens, Sarah and I played Phase 10 until curfew while listening to music. At first, we listened to a church CD, but when that was over, we listened to Stephen's Pandora music. When curfew came, Stephen walked me out to my car so I wouldn't get mugged. How thoughtful. :) On the way, many future date ideas were thought up on both sides and after a hug it was agreed that we would try to get together again on Monday after he and his roommates came back from Sandy.
When I drove up to my apartment (which I got to without getting lost even once, thank you very much), there was a big group of boys hanging out at the bottom of the stairwell. One commented on the antenna of my car, while the other complimented it, saying he'd drive it around if he owned it, and a third said that it looked much better with bright orange string all around it. Suspicious, I asked if they knew who had performed the prank and (while it was obvious they did it) they feigned their innocence. After telling them about the string across the railings, they asked how the girls managed to get out, and I told them they probably just used scissors to cut their way out. Upon hearing the news, the boys' faces fell- apparently they had thought their prank would have caused more trouble than it did.
This morning, I found this on my car's antenna. A few smashed up donuts. Lovely. Luckily, though, it definitely wasn't as bad as what the other girls got on and in front of their door.
There was also sidewalk chalk everywhere. The one in the street says something about the Honor Code- it's in front of the boys' building.
The rest of the day went well. Church wasn't especially eventful. I taught Sarah how to make German pancakes afterward, and we talked and Facebook stalked together all the way until ward prayer. Marley is away for the weekend at a family reunion. Both girls are really cool and I think I will be able to get along with them well.
